MUSKEGON, MI – Dr. Robert Alexander, who has operated an abortion clinic in Muskegon, is seeking the community’s input on whether the clinic should be reopened.
Based on his comments to a MLive and Muskegon Chronicle reporter Monday, Alexander is seriously considering leaving his clinic closed. Women’s Medical Services, a self-described abortion clinic at 863 E. Apple Ave., was closed Dec. 26 by an order of the city of Muskegon’s Fire Prevention Bureau.
Alexander said he wants to know the Muskegon community’s opinion. Should he reopen the clinic?
Alexander has expressed concerns for his family’s and his safety based on allegedactions of an anti-abortion group. That, he said, has him seriously considering retirement.
Readers have started weighing in on the topic through The Muskegon Chronicle’s Facebook page. Here is a sample of those comments:
One reader, who supports keeping the clinic closed, suggested a different use for the facility. “Maybe open a free contraceptive center, then there is no need to keep killing the innocents.”
