Tim Kaine, the former governor of Virginia, US Senator and a self-professed practicing Catholic, is Hillary Clinton’s selection for Vice President. Clinton’s extreme positions on abortion are reflected in the platform of her party, which explicitly calls for the repeal of the long-held Hyde Amendment that bans tax dollars from paying for abortions, more money for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and zero care for women facing unplanned pregnancies or suffering the emotional, physical or psychological damage from abortion.
When Kaine was running for governor in 2005, he said he supports abortion restrictions.
But when it came to his selection as VP, he has said that he is personally opposed to abortion and holds that same traditional value as his faith, yet he supports the laws in the place.
A column in the Washington Examiner said that Kaine is more dangerous on abortion than his running mate, who has radical positions on abortion as well: “Unlike Clinton, Kaine seems to recognize that there is something about abortion that is wrong, even gravely immoral. Yet, also unlike Clinton, Kaine doesn’t have the courage of his convictions on the issue.”
And just this week, Kaine seemed to flip flop on his support of the Hyde Amendment, a law that has to be signed every year which bars tax dollars from funding abortion. President Obama has signed it every year he was in office yet Hillary Clinton said she wants it repealed – which means tax dollars will directly fund abortion, something that a majority of the nation finds immoral.
But Tim Kaine? It’s hard to keep straight what you find wrong privately and publicly if you have no convictions apparently:
According to the Wall Street Journal, Kaine isn’t necessarily lying when he said he’s in support of the Hyde Amendment. He still thinks it’s great, but he thinks his job as VP is even better. In other words, he’s selling out his values to Hillary Clinton in order to help her accomplish whatever goals she has planned.
“The senator is not personally for repeal of the Hyde Amendment,” a spokesman for the Clinton-Kaine campaign said Wednesday. He added: “But as he’s made clear, he is committed to carrying out Secretary Clinton’s agenda.”
Tim Kaine has been and will continue to be a public figure. As a professed Catholic, he is deliberately misrepresenting the faith. Priests and bishops have come out publicly to say that his position on abortion is not compatible with his faith. One priest tweeted that it serves everyone better if Kaine doesn’t end up on his communion line.
But then the high school where Kaine graduated from not only congratulated him publicly but added the Latin acronym: AMDG, which means “For the Greater Glory of God”.
Promoting abortion, the killing of innocent lives, and harming women, is not for the greater glory of God.
“I am deeply disappointed in Rockhurst High School for their support of Sen. Tim Kaine,” said Reagan Barklage, Midwest Regional Coordinator for Students for Life of America. “Regardless of his alumni status, Sen. Kaine is a proud supporter of abortion, throughout the entire pregnancy. What kind of example is this setting for students? A Catholic high school should be promoting the beliefs and values of the Catholic Church.”
“Supporting a pro-abortion candidate goes against the basic principles of the Catholic faith. I hope that through this election and beyond, Rockhurst students are encouraged to stand firm in their pro-life beliefs by supporting mothers facing an unplanned pregnancy and the preborn,” she concluded.
Agreed. If Rockhurst wanted to congratulate Tim Kaine, they could have added that they will pray for his conversion and conviction of heart to put the innocent lives that are destroyed every day through abortion above his career goals.
