Pro-Life Future Campaign Successes from March!

Students for Life of America is assembling pro-life activists of all ages to engage in the multi-faceted Pro-Life Future (PLF) Campaign in 19 select cities across the nation. In each city, our goal is to directly reduce the abortion rate by increasing awareness of non-violent abortion alternatives, decreasing support for the predatory abortion industry, and changing hearts and minds about abortion. A big part of our plan to unify pro-life advocates in these cities is alerting the community about the dangers of the abortion industry by knocking on neighbors’ doors and starting conversations. We are thrilled to share with you our successes from our first month on the ground this March! NATIONAL SCORECARD Doors Knocked: 22,505 Conversations: 1,467 People Activated to Join Us: 242 Minds Changed

Here We Go Again: Trump-Appointed Judge Attacked Over Something He Wrote in College

Steven Menashi is a Trump judicial nominee to the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals. So, right off the bat, the mainstream media already hates him by virtue of his “appointer.” But, since we live in the age of social justice detectives, liberals have honed in on some stuff Menashi wrote during his time at Dartmouth College. In 2001.

Oh, but Menashi didn’t don blackface or tweet something homophobic when he was 13. He said infanticide was bad. *gasp*

The Nonsense

Let’s check out what CNN had to say:

A federal appeals court nominee once claimed some rare late-term abortion procedures lead to infanticide and decried college medical staff for distributing morning-after pills without informing students that some patients may consider them to cause abortions.

Steven Menashi, a Trump judicial nominee to the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals, made the comments in two separate editorials for The Dartmouth Review, the conservative student newspaper for Dartmouth College, while he was a student there in 2001.
In the columns, Menashi focused on extremely rare procedures and even rarer outcomes associated with abortions later in pregnancy.
Menashi, however, wrote, without citing specific sources that the procedure often involved infanticide. “The baby sometimes dies in birth, but is often delivered alive. Denied medical care, the baby typically lives one or two hours before expiring,” Menashi wrote.

Now, Let’s Debunk the Nonsense

Many times in their article, CNN refers to “induced labor abortions” as extremely rare. This type of abortion would involve administering an overly-heavy dose of misoprostol to the mother, inducing intense unnatural labor, and expelling the baby quite possibly alive, given that nothing was specifically done to kill him/her. This sounds familiar… where have we heard about this recently…

Ah yes, long-standing abortionist Forrest Smith just testified that Planned Parenthood does this on the regular in order to sell fetal hearts to researchers. That’s paraphrasing, of course. You can read the full story here.

As Dr. Smith also noted, that type of abortion is fairly exclusive to Planned Parenthood due to their interest in selling beating infant hearts. “Off-brand” abortionists don’t seem to be heavily involved in the baby parts market. But how rare are botched abortions? Not terribly, as it turns out. Since 2003, there have been 183 confirmed live births following failed abortions, according to the CDC.

The American Center for Law and Justice has a much higher estimate of 362 between 2001 and 2010. Oh, and Canada (who loves abortion) reported 766 “live-birth” abortions over a 5-year period. So… it happens plenty.

Abortion survivors themselves tend to believe babies survive abortions, as well. Gianna Jessen is among the most active:

What About Infanticide?

CNN said babies surviving abortion was rare, and killing the survivors was even rarer. Jill Stanek, a nurse who saw abortion survivors left to die, disagrees.

Perhaps their hangup is that they’re defining “infanticide” as Gosnell-style spinal cord snipping? Most abortionists are smarter than that. Neglect of a struggling abortion survivor is much easier to defend in court than taking active homicidal action. That aforementioned abortionist, Forrest Smith, also pointed out that his cohorts aren’t defining “fetal demise” correctly, equating things like torn off limbs with death. Abortion advocates love changing the definitions of things to suit their interests, so a faulty definition of death may explain some of this.

Let’s go back to our earlier presumption. Somewhere between 183 and 362 babies are reported to have survived abortions since the early 2000s. That’s according to only a handful of states that are required to report. Abortions are committed in all 50 states. To say that reported number is at least doubled is very reasonable. So we’re pondering a number around 400.

There aren’t 400 abortion survivors walking around, sharing their stories. There are a handful known to the public, plenty who were likely too wounded by the in-utero abortion attempt that they could not be saved after live birth (even if anyone tried), but… what about the others? The numbers don’t add up.

Menashi’s Comments About the “Morning After Pill”

Now this part is extra stupid. Menashi “decried college medical staff for distributing morning-after pills without informing students that some patients may consider them to cause abortions.” Where is the lie? Also, where is the balanced reporting? “Some students may consider them to cause abortions.” Moral relativity doesn’t belong in journalism; either the pill ends a conceived life, or it doesn’t. That fact doesn’t differ based on the taker’s opinion. Patients deserve all of the information about everything. Withholding due to politics is gross.

The morning after pill, or Plan B, can cause abortions. Define “abortion” as the intentional ending of a human life, which biologically begins at fertilization. Plan B can do that by making the uterus “inhospitable” and unfit for implantation. Says so right on the box. But pregnancy begins at implantation! No, it does not. In the 60s, pro-choice doctors at ACOG had a meeting and decided to change the definition of pregnancy to implantation so that religious people would buy their pills and not feel like it was immoral. “Pregnancy” is the carrying of gestating human offspring. Human offspring, again, are created at fertilization. This stuff isn’t hard.
