Choosing Life: First-Round NFL Draft Pick Micah Parsons Reveals He Was Almost Aborted

Blog written by Samantha Kamman. The possibility of hardship cannot revoke one’s right to life, and Micah Parsons is proof of that. The 21-year-old is a linebacker for the Penn State Nittany Lions but, according to PennLive, the athlete is about to become a first-round draft pick for the National Football League. No doubt, the opportunity to sign a pro football contract is exciting, but it almost wasn’t possible. Believe it or not, the promising young athlete was almost never born, according to a pre-NFL draft interview with the potential star at PennLive. “It’s actually a crazy story,” he said.

Students for Life Announces Colorado #Justice4Life Tour Stop

STUDENTS FOR LIFE OF AMERICA ANNOUNCES COLORADO #JUSTICE4LIFE TOUR STOP TO URGE U.S. SENATORS TO CONFIRM AMY CONEY BARRETT FOR THE U.S. SUPREME COURT

“We have waited half a century for this opportunity,” said SFLA President Kristan Hawkins. “It’s absolutely vital that the U.S. Senate vote to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, and, as we continue to travel across the country in–person and virtually, we are activating a new generation of single-issue voters on the human rights struggle of our day – abortion.”

DENVER, CO & FREDERICKSBURG, VA (10-19-2020) – Students for Life of America (SFLA) announced on Monday that they will be holding a #Justice4Life tour stop in Denver, CO as part of a nationwide #Justice4Life, 10-state Tour to demand the U.S. Senate confirm Amy Coney Barrett for the U.S. Supreme Court and to urge voters to #VotePro-LifeFirst in this pivotal election.

The national tour will also stop in West Virginia, Alaska, Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Arizona. #Justice4Life tour stops will coincide with Students for Life Action’s (SFLAction) Activism Weekends, happening in eight of the 10 states, where students and volunteers will canvas to urge voters to #VoteProLifeFirst. With a Supreme Court vacancy in play, the importance of strong pro-life leaders in the White House, Senate, and House has never been clearer – which makes the need for voters to #VoteProLifeFirst even more urgent this Election.

“The importance of judicial vacancies has been a reason to vote Pro-Life First since 1973, making this moment in time critical to the future of our nation,” said SFLA and SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins. “The confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett offers a rare opportunity to put a Justice who will respect life in law on the nation’s highest court with the potential to impact millions upon millions of future lives. As we travel across the country in person and virtually, we will be activating a new generation of single-issue voters on the human rights struggle of our day – abortion.”

MEDIA ADVISORY: COLORADO TOUR STOP

 Friday, October 23rd, 9am MST
Senator Cory Gardner’s Office
1961 Stout Street Suite #12-300
Denver, CO 80294

Following the event, students and volunteers will proceed to local neighborhoods to connect with voters about the urgent need to #VoteProLifeFirst on Tuesday, November 3rd. In Colorado, SFLAction canvassing efforts will aim to make voters aware of Proposition 115 – a ballot initiative which would limit abortions after 22 weeks across the state of Colorado, as well as the pro-life voting record of Senator Cory Gardner, who is running for re-election against John Hickenlooper.

SFLAction conducted similar student trips over the summer, knocking on more than 50,000 doors and making more than 200,000 phone calls to educate voters in Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kansas. As a result, numerous pro-choice Republicans were defeated in primary races, including incumbent Arizona State Senator Heather Carter, who was unseated by pro-life challenger Nancy Barto. Click here to read more about SFLAction’s results in this cycle.

“What we’re doing this election cycle is working. Period,” said Hawkins. “We spend every school year building relationships with students. Now, we’re mobilizing them, and our efforts are having an impact in critical races across the nation.”

MEDIA NOTE: For critics who argue that Judge Barrett’s background includes pro-life associations, an abortion viewpoint is not unusual for Supreme Court nominees. Click here to read Hawkins’ op-ed at RealClearPolitics on how abortion views have been ignored for past nominees – such as Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan. Click here to read Hawkins’ op-ed at Fox News outlining how feminist opposition to Barrett’s nomination doesn’t line up with the views of most women.
