SPRING CAMPUS TOUR
There’s an URGENT message…
We need to be sharing it on our campuses this semester. It’s simple: The human heart starts beating around 21 days’ gestation. First trimester babies are humans with value, too.

Students for Life of America created the Heart to Heart Spring Campus Tour in order to equip students to join the national dialogue about this issue. Traveling to 150 schools in the Spring 2020 Semester, the tour will teach:
- First trimester fetal development
- First trimester abortion procedures
- The risks of these procedures
- Where to get real help
- How you can get involved
Why this? Why Now?

91% of abortions are committed in the first trimester, and college-aged women make up the largest demographic of women seeking abortions. We need this message to be heard where it matters most: on our campuses!

States are passing laws that affect first trimester babies, telemedicine abortion, on-campus toilet bowl abortions, and more. This message can influence that legislation!

A recent poll found that 49% of people want to prohibit abortion after the baby’s heart starts beating. People rightly associate a heartbeat with “being alive.” This is an easy steppingstone to help people recognize the value of all human life starting at conception.

ABOUT THE FETAL HEARTBEAT

It’s Science
The Mayo Clinic says that at week 5 [when the baby is 3 weeks old], “Your baby’s heart and a primitive circulatory system will form.”
American Pregnancy Association repeats that in their development timeline: “The heart is now beating at a steady rhythm.”
In fact, a recent study published by Oxford admits that it could be even sooner, “as early as 16 days after conception.”
Faulty Terminology
Don’t Fall for it!
Even pro-abortion articles, lobbyists, and abortionists know it. Don’t be fooled by terms like “pulsing cells,” “electric activity,” or “cardiac activity”. No matter what you call it, we are talking about the heart’s very first beats.

HEART TO HEART ADVOCATES
We’re Equipping an Army
We want to equip an army of Heart to Heart Advocates on campus with pro-life resources ready to help pregnant women.
What is a Heart to Heart Advocate?
These are students who will advocate for moms and the preborn by supporting both of them. There are two hearts involved! Oftentimes, we find that moms need encouragement, someone to paint a picture of hope, and guidance towards practical resources. That is what our Heart to Heart Advocates will do!

How to Become a Heart to Heart Advocate:
If your school is hosting the Heart to Heart Spring Campus Tour, take a pin and resource card. Keep the resources handy and place the pin on your backpack to mark you as an Advocate. This will show that you are someone whom others can ask for help.
Not hosting the tour? Download these pro-life resources and guidance for helping a friend. Print it and consider keeping these in your backpack. You can save this link and a few resources on your phone, too!
